The Nature Preserve

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

The Nature Center is part of a 77-acre nature preserve with riparian and oak woodlands, shrub lands, meadows, and aquatic habitats.

Watchable Wildlife

The Nature Area is included as a "Watchable Wildlife" site in the California state guide because of its reliable wildlife viewing opportunities. Bring your binoculars so you can see the wildlife up close.

Varieties of animal species live in or use the nature preserve and Ancil Hoffman Park during the year. Many species may regularly be seen: deer, squirrels, coyotes, wild turkeys, rabbits, snakes, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, songbirds and waterfowl on the river and ponds, as well as tracks or signs of many other animals.
