Location and Directions to the Nature Center
The Effie Yeaw Nature Center is located inside Ancil Hoffman County Park,
2850 San Lorenzo Way, off Tarshes Drive in Carmichael, Ca.
Hours
- Open every day of the week (Mon-Sun)
- November - January: 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- February - October: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Holidays: Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day
Planning your Trip
Access for wheelchair and stroller use
For wheelchair and stroller users, the nature area is fully accessible. An emergency service road provides a beautiful access route to portions of the Nature Area. If you or a member of your party uses a wheelchair, please contact us prior to your visit for additional information about accessible areas in the Nature Center.
Entrance Fees
- Ancil Hoffman Park entrance fee - $5 per car, free for ARNHA members
- Admission to the Nature Center and preserve is free.
- Most weekend family programs are free but some require pre-registration and/or fees. Visit the Events and Activities page for further details.
- Buses are $20 per vehicle, but may enter free if participating in a paid Nature Center program.

Call-in reservations are considered confirmed over the phone. Two weeks advance reservation required. For more information, refer to our educational programs page.

Walk-ins
Walk-ins are welcome during the weekends. On weekdays from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., the Nature Center is reserved for scheduled tours.
Other groups cannot be accommodated during this time. Individuals and families are welcome at all hours; however, please do not disturb the tours.
Dogs, Horses and Bicycles
Because we are a protected nature study preserve, there are NO DOGS, HORSES OR BICYCLES allowed on Nature Area trails.
Picnics
Picnicking is allowed at the tables near the building, but not out in the preserve.
